Jack Rabbits under new ownership

One of Derby’s favourite businesses, Jack Rabbits, has been bought by five Derbyshire entrepreneurs who plan to take the brand forward and continue its ethos of being ‘a place for the people’

Its new owners are Suzanne and Ben Edmonds, Jane Hamlett, Nick Taylor and Myles Mellor. Jack Rabbits founder Amelia Horne is moving on to a new adventure.

Suzanne said: “We are a small team of like-minded individuals who will be using our combined skills in business, catering and design, together with the foundation built by Amelia and her staff, to create a cafe that has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With this at its core and an unquestionable ‘can do’ attitude, our aim is that Jack Rabbits will continue to be renowned for its excellent customer service and family values, and be a place you can feel at home in.

“Our focus is to be a stylish hub of activity centred on food and drink. We will provide a simple menu using high quality produce which, wherever possible, will be sourced locally.”

The new owners’ intention is to roll the brand out to projects in Ashbourne, Bakewell and beyond. They plan to expand the brand to include an evening menu providing continental flavours, exquisite wines and local beers, a full range of outside catering options for weddings and events and an evening cookery school featuring Blok knives and other talented kinsmen within the industry.

Suzanne continues: “We’re all really excited to have this fantastic opportunity and invite you to join us on the continuing Jack Rabbits journey.”
